Blair
Mitten, RMT Biographical Information:
Blair graduated from Sutherland-Chan School of
Massage Therapy in 1984. Over the years he has developed
skills and interest in Swedish Massage and therapeutic
massage techniques. He works with disabled and active
people treating their injuries, chronic pain and
repetitive strain issues, tension headaches and stress
symptoms.
Blair writes, “Relaxed muscle is happy muscle.
Warming and massaging the soft tissue that surrounds
and inter-twines with the muscle and scar tissue from previous
injury eases the contraction of the muscle and improves
the general circulation of blood and fluids in the body. Improved
flexibility and efficiency relieves chronic stress
in the body.”
Blair is active hiking and climbing. He enjoys
commuting on his bicycle and is thrilled when he
can spend a morning ski touring on Hollyburn Mountain
before working his evening shift.

Julia Winter, RMT Biographical Information:
Julia
graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy
in 1987. Over the years she has developed skills
and interest in Systemic Deep Tissue work. She works
with children, athletes, disabled, and active people
treating their injuries, chronic pain and repetitive
strain issues, tension headaches and stress symptoms.
Julia writes, “Mobility and flexibility are keys
to optimum health. Deep Tissue Massage gives relief
and releases chronic tension and patterns of what
some call disease in the body. Unchecked tightness
and immobility from repetitive stress can lead to
reduction of the range-of-motion in major and small
joints, pain, and compromise our happiness. Regular
massage to the soft tissues of the body allows us
to ‘unwind’ these patterns and live free of pain.”
Julia is very active herself, raising two children
with John, playing hockey on a couple of teams, singing
in a choir, and regular work-outs with weights and
her bicycle come to mind. Julia is passionate about
physical activity. | |

Mary Holland, B.Ed., L.M.T., Biographical Information:
Mary graduated from UBC in Vancouver in 1970 having developed an interest in the concept of Bodywork & therapeutic massage therapy.
During the ‘80’s she learned, practiced and taught a multi-dimensional fitness approach known as ‘Strong, Stretched & Centered’ for body,
mind and spirit. Subsequently, she opened a fitness studio in Kelowna, BC, named The Bodyworks.
In the ‘90’s she relocated to Maui to study Massage Therapy at the Maui Academy of Healing Arts completing and graduating and
being licensed in the state from 2000 to present time. Mary worked with chiropractors there and was introduced to a revolutionary
method of clearing Scar Tissue from nerve entrapments and other structures which result in pain, weakness, numbness,
deep ache and restricted range of motion. These techniques are comprised of protocols to release adhesions from fascia
resulting in freer range of motion and reduction of pain.
She studied, practiced and was then certified in Vancouver for
‘Active Release Techniques’ ART by Dr. Michael Leahy in 2008. Since then she has synthesized her approach to massage therapy
mostly using ART, Deep Tissue, Repetitive Use Injury Techniques, Swedish, Myo-fascial and other methods she has acquired through
continuing education.
Mary is committed to her clients and dedicated as a problem solver. “My goal as a therapist is to understand and resolve painful
problems. It’s challenging and rewarding for me.” Her treatments will improve flexibility, reduce pain, and improve performance for
athletes and people of all skill levels. A favorite motto is ‘feeling is believing’! Mary is not registered as a RMT, however, so her
treatments are not covered by
either extended medical insurers or ICBC.
In her spare time, Mary enjoys nature, hiking, skiing, swimming and jewelry design with her World Cup skier husband Aaron.
